Birkh Bahadur Yongya of Panchthar Yangwarak Rural Municipality-3 Oyam, who came to Saudi Arabia during his employment, died in a road accident in 2076.
The body arrived, the Qazkiriya was also completed, but due to lack of access and information, his parents and guardians were unable to receive compensation from the government of Saudi Arabia under the social security insurance scheme for years.
In 2081, Birkh Bahadur's parents and guardians received a compensation of Rs.
According to the concept of the Saudi government, through the social security insurance scheme that is moving forward, there is an arrangement for the parents and beneficiaries of workers who have come there from different countries for employment.
After getting the information that funds will be received through the Sami program, on the initiative of Yangwarak-3 ward president Bimal Rai, Birkh Bahadur's mother Sukmaya was brought to the headquarters and made a citizen, and such a large amount was received by advancing the process.
'Mother Sukamaya, born in Vikram Samvat 2000, had not even obtained citizenship, due to lack of access and information, the process for compensation could not proceed. The ward office facilitated the process after getting the information that the family of the deceased will get relief if the process is carried out through the Sami program," said Ward President Rai.
Like Birkh Bahadur, Chandra Bahadur Tamang, a resident of Hilihang-7, who came to Saudi Arabia for employment, also lost his life in an accident in 2070. After proceeding with the process through the Sami program, his parents and legal guardians have also received an amount equal to 33 lakh rupees.
Chandra Bahadur's mother Thagimaya Tama said that they did not proceed with the process because they did not know that relief and compensation will be provided through social security insurance scheme in the name of her son who died abroad. She said that she felt some relief when Rs. 33 lakh was received in the name of the beneficiaries including mothers, fathers and wives in the facilitation of the Sami program.
Like Birkh Bahadur and Chandra Bahadur, the parents and relatives of 11 people, including Dillikumar Saru Magar of Fidim-6, Mohan Jawegu of Fidim-10 and Birkumar Mangmu of Fidim-13, who lost their lives during foreign employment, have received relief and compensation in the facilitation of the Sami program since last one year.
Sami Program Facilitator Birendra Bhandari informed that 50 people who lost their lives during foreign employment during the last one year have been asked for relief and compensation.
The coordinator of the Sami program in Panchthar, Kshomaya Tamang, said that the families of the deceased have received relief and compensation after completing the process of collecting applications and documents from the families of the deceased in coordination with the local level, the immigration resource center under the Sami program and the Nepali Embassy in Saudi Arabia.
In the last one year, about 1 crore has been withdrawn from the accounts of 11 parents and members. The Sami program is making various efforts to solve problems arising during foreign employment. The Immigrant Resource Center operated under the program is facilitating information and legal consultation, phone follow-up, case registration, reconciliation after discussions between victims and perpetrators, and skills training and capacity development.
The Sami program is working in five areas: information, justice, skills, financial literacy and psychosocial counseling for those who are going to work abroad, those who have gone and their relatives.
