Jantedhunga rural municipality digging potatoes planted in 60 seedlings by himself

Jantedhunga rural municipality has started to collect the production of potatoes planted by itself. About 60 plants of barren fields were plowed and the municipality planted potatoes.

According to Rural Municipality President Aruna Devi Rai, 11 seedlings in the name of the rural municipality in Ward No. 4 Dambarkhushiwalai and 60 seedlings planted in the fields along with other public lands have been started from Thursday. Three quintals recommended by agriculture and seven muri potato seeds from local farmers were planted. 

Out of the 60 ropani land, 15 ropani have been planted with potatoes along with corn, while all the remaining potatoes have been planted, said Khem Bahadur Khadka, the vice chairman of the village. According to him, it will take about a week to dig potatoes. On Thursday, 24 sacks of potatoes weighing 35 kg were dug in one day. "Even if it takes a week to dig potatoes, you will know how much has been produced," Khadka said.

According to Khadka, although potatoes are sold at 70 rupees per kg in the local market, there is a discussion about selling the potatoes produced by the rural municipality at 60 rupees per kg. 

The municipality has also purchased two buffaloes by spending about three lakhs for fertilizers. The municipality has also prepared to plant bitter gourd in the place where potato is planted. Rai said that local farming has been prioritized for agricultural production, Raithane crop promotion and job creation.
