Allotment of land has been started for landless Dalits and squatters in Hillihang Rural Municipality for the distribution of land.

In collaboration with Land Commission and Hillihang Rural Municipality, the land has been measured and separated from ward number 7. Land surveying has been started on Thursday. The land selected for 4 families including 2 landless Dalits and 2 squatters of Bharpa-7 was inspected on Thursday in the presence of technicians and staff of the Land Commission and officials of the Commission and village leadership.

Landless Dalits and  There is a provision for squatters to get land at the rate of 5 ropani 6 annas for housing and farming. The process for distribution of land to unorganized residents will also be started. .

In Hillihang, 11 landless Dalits, 37 squatters and 682 unorganized residents have applied for Dhanipurja. Vipendra Gautam, an expert member of Land Commission Panchthar informed that 7,265 people, including 104 landless Dalits, 139 landless squatters and 7,222 unorganized residents, have applied for land in the district.

Technicians of the Land Commission have been assigned to the field to measure the land to be provided to them. 

Dhankumar Fiyak, District President of the Land Commission, has said that there will be no delay in the process of giving property to the landless, squatters and unorganized residents.

'Years ago, we applied for Dhanipurja, but after the government changed, the officials in the commission changed, Dhanipurja was not distributed. Will it be received now?' said local Rupa Tamang.

Along with Hilihang, the process of giving land to landless Dalits, squatters and unorganized residents in Fidim municipality and Phalelung, Falgunand, Yangwarak, Kummayak, Tumbawa, Miklajung in the district is also progressing, said Umesh Nembang, the member secretary of the land commission and head of surveyor's office, Panchthar.
