Prosthetic legs have been distributed to people with disabilities at two local levels in the southern region of the district. Artificial legs were distributed to 19 people with disabilities in Khotehang and Jantedhunga Rural Municipality on Thursday.
Artificial legs have been distributed with the financial support of the concerned rural municipality, Koshi province and Karuva Foundation and the technical support of the National Handicapped Fund. According to Ram Bahadur Thapa, Prosthetist and Orthotist of the National Disability Fund, Sushila Periyar KAFO (Caliper) from Ward No. 9 Lichkiramche of Khotehang Rural Municipality, Sandeep Rai from 6 Indrenipokhari with severe disabilities, artificial leg below the ankle, Sargam Rai from Ward No. 8 Simpani with artificial leg below the bullet. Support orthosis has been distributed to the severely disabled Mankumari Rai of Simpani and the severely disabled Tika Bahadur Rai of 6 Indrenipokhari, Orthopedic sutures have been distributed to the moderately disabled Mandira Rai of Indrenipokhari and the normally disabled Udiman Sarki of Lichkiramche.
Similarly, various materials have been distributed to 12 people in Jantedhunga Rural Municipality. According to Sachin Shrestha of Karuna Foundation, Vindu Rai and Dhak Bahadur Khadka of Jantedhunga Rural Municipality-2, Ruku Rai of 3, Bishnu Rai and Mina Basnet of 4, Dil Bahadur Vishwakarma of 5, Tej Bahadur Bishta, Shivmaya Budhathoki, Purna Bahadur Khadka, Jas Bahadur Rai of 6 and Yuv Bahadur Pokharel have been distributed various artificial legs.
