After the water level has crossed the diversion, the traffic has been blocked in the Hewa river of Panchthar on the Mechi highway. Due to the rain since Monday evening, the water level in the river has risen and traffic has been disrupted.

Since this morning, the vehicles traveling from Ilam and Panchthar to Taplejung and from Taplejung via Panchthar to Ilam and Jhapa have been stopped on the road. Rupesh Tamang, Information Officer of District Police Office Panchthar informed that efforts are being made to open the traffic by repairing the diversion as the river receded.

Due to similar rains, the Muwa River diversion connecting Sidin and Prangbung under the Fidim-Falout road section has also been damaged. Locals said that there was no traffic at that place either.
