A man who absconded after stealing gold has been arrested after eight months. Police arrested 29-year-old Niroj Lama of Panchpokhari rural municipality-7 Bhotenamalang Takkadhunga in Sindhupalchok on Sunday.

According to Police Deputy Inspector Bhojraj Shrestha of Ela Police Office Beltar, Lama was accused of stealing 4 tolas of gold and 640,000 in cash from the house of Padam Rai at Paitalis Chowk-3 Chaudandigarhi Municipality in Udaipur on 30th November 2081. After the incident, Basaha Chowki searched for Lama and managed to escape by hiding the eyes of the police and locals.

Police inspector Babin Rai informed that after the continuous efforts of the police, the team of Beltar Police Office of Ela succeeded in arresting Lama from Panchpokhari police station in Sindhupalchok on Sunday morning. It is said that the arrested lama is under the custody of Ela police office and is being investigated.

Police inspector Rai said that the accused was arrested based on the CCTV footage.
