Two people who were arrested on charges of cheating by using social media have been released on bail. Shivkumar Now of Rupandehi Majgauwa and Juna Katwal of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-1, who were arrested on the complaint of Pravika Rai of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-2, were released on bail on Wednesday.

District Judge Narayan Prasad Dahal's single bench released Nau one lakh and Katwal on bail of Rs 25,000, said Sushant Mishra, information officer of District Police Office Khotang. A complaint was lodged at the District Police Office on 9th June 2081 saying that Pravika had been incited to invest money from the ID of Katwal and that 27,000 was transferred to Now's Isewa account and 27,000 to the account of Shivnath Barai of Ruppandehi Suryapura up to 31st May 2081 including 1,97,000 and 2,24,000. Based on that, Katwal appeared at police office Khotang on June 1st and now on June 30th. Another Shivnath Barai is absconding, police said.

Katwal had submitted a petition to the District Police Office on 1 June 2081 saying that her ID had been hacked. According to Information Officer Mishra, users should be careful as the number of fraudsters by hacking IDs has increased in recent times.
