With the onset of monsoon, the number of dengue infected people in Jhapa has started increasing and the risk is also becoming high. According to Health Office Jhapa, dengue infection has been confirmed in 39 people in the district only after Baisakh.
According to Head of Office Ramesh Barkoti, Dengue infection has been confirmed in Virtamod, Damak and Gouradah. He said that 37 people have been infected in Virtamod, 1 each in Damak and Gouradah.
Although this is not the exact data of the entire district. Not all municipalities have reported statistically. The number of infections in the district is not the only number," he said. "Since most of the reports are being received from hospitals, it is not yet known which area has the highest number of infections. We are working to locate the area and adopt precautionary measures. It is not that the infection has spread like an epidemic in the district.
In the previous year, only around 4,000 people were infected with dengue and two people died. Health officials say that this year too, with the onset of monsoon, there has been an increase in the number of infections in the district.
