A man was found dead at the gate of an irrigation canal in Mechinagar Municipality-1 Sunare Tol of Jhapa.
According to the police, the dead person is 56-year-old Bhagirath Tamang, a resident of Rong Rural Municipality-6 in Ilam. He was washed away by the Siddi river on Saturday and taken to the irrigation canal at Mechinagar-2 Bhrikuti in Jhapa.
The locals informed the police after seeing the body.
The body has been sent to the provincial hospital Bhadrapur for post-mortem.
