Under the Mechi highway, the work of connecting a belay bridge has started on the Henwa river on the Fidim-Taplejung road section. The division office Ilam has started connecting a 70-meter long bely bridge on this river that separates the border between Fidim Municipality and Hilihang Rural Municipality of Panchthar.
The last time the flood occurred on October 12, 2081 washed away the Belybridge here. Before that, after the flood of 2nd June 2080 swept away the concrete bridge here, the belay bridge was also swept away, and the water was diverted there through the hume pipe and the means of transportation were being moved there.
Meanwhile, the road division office under the federal government, Ilam, called for bids last February and started the process of connecting the belay bridge here again.
The contract has been awarded for 34.9 million 336 rupees for Belybridge connection and base construction and road access. Pawan Bhattarai, Chief and Engineer of Road Division Ilam, said that it will take about 15 days to complete the Belybridge connection work which started on Monday.
After the Belibridge is connected here, the citizens of Taplejung along with Hilihang, Yangwarak and Phalelung of Panchthar will benefit.
