Belibridge materials have arrived for the Hewa river that separates Fidim and Hilihang in Panchthar. The concrete bridge built here under the Mechi Highway was swept away by the flood on 2nd June 2080. After that, Belibridge, which was connected at a cost of 20 million in 29 days, was washed away by the flood on October 12.
Pawan Bhattarai, Chief (Engineer) of Road Division, Ilam, informed that all the parts required for the seventy meter long belay bridge have been transported to the construction site.
According to him, even though the belay bridge has been shipped, the technicians who will install it have not arrived in the construction area. Technicians are currently busy opening the Beilibridge at Foxingtar in Sunkoshi and it has been reported that Hewa river will be reached by 10th of May.
``The work will start as soon as we arrive, our goal is to complete the installation within 15 days of the start and allow traffic and transportation as well as war through the Belibridge,'' said Bhattarai.
To connect the entire Taplejung district with the road network through Phalelung, Yangwarak and Hilihang of Panchthar, after the belay bridge was built on the Hewa river, a hume pipe was placed in the river to allow vehicles and transport vehicles to cross.
In the meantime, Road Division Ilam called for bids last February and advanced the process for the work of keeping Beilibridge. The base has been constructed by spending 34.9 million 336 rupees only to keep the base of the bridge Belibridge.
According to Bhattarai, an access road with 2,600 cubic meters of gabbling wall and 400 cubic meters of concrete wall has been prepared for the base of Beilibridge towards Fidim municipality. For Belibridge connection and base construction, Road Division Ilam is working with a construction company named Dobhan-Super Saugat-Light Builders JV. And more than two dozen machines and horses have been mobilized.
