Efforts are being made to open the Henwa river on the Mechi highway after the flood has damaged the diversion and it is difficult for large vehicles to move.
Four hryum pipes installed for diversion in the river connecting Hilihang and Phidim of Panchthar were damaged by the flood that came with the rain on Wednesday evening, while some of the hryum pipes were damaged by mud and wood.
With the damage to the hydraulic pipe, small vehicles were moving, but cargo and large vehicles were not moving. Meanwhile, Dammar Mishra, an employee of the road division Ilam, informed that the road division Ilam has repaired the Hium pipe that was moved around by the flood using excavators and has started removing stones and wood.
According to Mishra, after a few hours the diversion will be repaired and the movement of large passenger and cargo vehicles will be facilitated.
After the flood that occurred on 12 October 2081 washed away the beli bridge, Mechi highway was diverted to Hewa River.
Road Division Ilam has informed that the beli bridge connecting the said river has arrived and the connection work will be completed within the month of May.
