Bailbridge of Foxingtar removed

The temporary belay bridge installed to cross the Sunkoshi River flowing through Foxingtar on the Diktel-Gaighat road section under the Sagarmatha Highway has been removed.

A temporary belay bridge was installed after last year's floods swept away the motorable concrete bridge of Foxingtar, which connects different districts of the eastern Terai. Pashupati Gyawali, head of Gaighat-Diktel road project, informed that the belay bridge was removed after the water level in the river started to rise. Aryan Construction Multipurpose Pvt. Ltd. Udaipur Katari took the contract at a cost of one crore and two lakh rupees to install and open the belay bridge.

Belibridge was put into operation from 27th of January after connection. A 50-meter belay bridge was installed at that place. Belibridge connected Khotehang Rural Municipality-9 Lichkiramche and Rautamai Rural Municipality-6 Amaptar in Udaipur.

After the removal of the belay bridge, it has become difficult to travel from Diktel via Gaighat to Dharan, Biratnagar, Kakdbhita, and to reach those places, the Diktel-Halesi-Jayaram-Ghurmi-Katari road has to be used. This alternative route is difficult, long and narrow to travel.

Locals have said that the price of daily necessities and other materials will increase due to the disconnection of Khotang's transport connection with the Terai after the removal of the Belibridge.
