Illegal structures built near Triyuga Bus Park in Triyuga Municipality-3 have been demolished. As the municipality issued a notice on Wednesday to demolish the nine illegally built houses near the bus park, the houses of the people who were living there were demolished with dozers on Thursday.

Mayor Basant Basnet said that during the expansion of the bus park, the houses and towers built on Ailani land were demolished according to the 'building and road standards 2074' made by the municipality. The houses of Satyadevdas Chaudhary, Baldevdas Chaudhary, Shankar Chaudhary, Hariharwati Chaudhary, Sharmila Chaudhary, Neer Bahadur Roka, Shyam Kumar Chaudhary, who were living on the banks of Triyuga River by constructing illegal structures, were demolished, said Tilak Katuwal, Ward President of Triyuga Municipality-3. Tenants Sonu Choudhary, Sanjayavati Choudhary, whose house owners have not been identified, the tin-roofed house and the public toilet have also been demolished.

Mayor Basnet said that land has been provided on the other side of the Triyuga bus park to the squatters who have built houses on the banks of the river. According to him, there is one katta at the demolished place and ten dhur ghaderis have been provided at the other place. Ward president Katuwal said that the municipality demolished the house by giving two plots to those who would have two plots in the demolished place and moving the real squatters to another place and giving them land.

The municipality has said that the Triyuga Bus Park, which is being constructed in a modern way, will be obstructed in the construction work, so the structure had to be demolished. The Deputy Mayor of Triyuga Municipality, Maheshwari Rai, said that in accordance with the municipality's policy of protecting government and public lands in the city area, nine houses in Triyuga Bus Park area have been demolished and the structures built in Madan Bhandari Sabha Hall area located in Ward No. 13 will also be demolished. According to him, as part of the campaign to identify and organize the actual squatters within the city area, the bus park was demolished after completing the legal process due to the obstruction in the construction of the bus park.

The municipality issued a notice and demolished the structures after repeatedly asking those who built houses on public land to demolish the houses themselves, but the municipality manages the actual squatters, said Mayor Basnet. After the dozer reached the settlement to demolish the house, there was a scuffle between the city police and the locals for a while.
