Mandari Limbu, wife of Ran Bahadur Sambahamfe of Panchthar's Tumwewa rural municipality-4, has been granted citizenship and national identity card at the age of 77. Similarly, Ran Bahadur got a national identity card at the age of 77.

The Sambahamfe couple were provided with citizenship and national identity cards by the district administration office staff who went to their home on Tuesday along with village chairman Baburam Khadka.

Mondayi, who was in poor financial condition, was deprived of getting pension due to lack of citizenship until the age of 77. Chairman Khadka said that 79-year-old Ran Bahadur was receiving social security allowance but soon after getting information that he was going to be deprived due to lack of national identity card, in coordination with senior district officer Bishnu Prasad Koirala, he was assigned citizenship and national identity card.

"While visiting the village understanding the joys and sorrows of the citizens, it was made available in coordination with the senior district officer after getting information that they were not able to obtain citizenship and national identity cards," Chairman Khadka said. Based on the

records, Ran Bahadur was born in 2003 and his wife Mandari was born on 20th July 2006. Mandari has been given citizenship signed by senior district officer Bishnu Prasad Koirala.

Lakshmi Prasad Baskota and Bhesharaj Khatri went to Tumwewa of the couple from district administration office Panchthar to give the citizen and national identity cards. A large number of local people gathered when the representatives and staff including the village chairman reached the couple's house. Tears of joy fell from the eyes of this couple when they got the citizenship and national identity cards at home.

"Bringing citizenship at home in old age is not a big deal for us, now we can support ourselves with the allowance of 2 people," said Monday. President Khadka says that even though 5 children were born to the Sambahamfe couple, they are deprived of the basic services that they get from the state because they are not with anyone at the moment.
