Ambulance Use of Indian Number Plates in Marijuana Smuggling

It has been found that ambulances with Indian number plates are used in smuggling marijuana from the districts of eastern Nepal.

District Police Office Sunsari said that after the police seized an ambulance with Indian number plate loaded with 180 kg of ganja in Sunsari on Saturday night, smugglers have started adopting new methods in smuggling ganja.

The police have seized an ambulance with an Indian number and its driver from Pidari area located in Ramdhuni municipality-6 with 180 kg of narcotic marijuana.

At around 10 o'clock on Saturday night, a joint police team deployed from the area police office Itahari, Pakli and the proposed area police office Ramdhuni blocked the entire road and checked the area based on a secret information that he was carrying narcotic marijuana.  During the

investigation, when the Indian ambulance numbered BR 38 P 5414 was stopped and searched, a total of 180 kg of ganja was found in 6 bags of 30-30 kg packed in black plastic in a white sack. 

The ambulance driver, 25-year-old Sriraj Kumar Sah of Sunsari Barahkshetra Municipality 4, has been detained by the police. Chief Superintendent of Police Suman Kumar Timsina of District Police Office Sunsari informed that the arrested driver and the seized drugs and the ambulance are being kept at the local police office. 

Earlier, the businessmen smuggled marijuana using Nepalese number plate ambulances and vehicles with fake government number plates and oil tankers.
