The first Koshi investment conference held in the industrial city of Biratnagar drew a historic blueprint for the overall economic development of Koshi. Investment commitments in 46 projects worth 1 trillion 52 billion 16 million rupees have come from the conference.

The state government had socked 71 projects in the investment conference. The estimated cost of the Socasing project was one trillion 73 billion 49 crores.
This project, covering various fields of agriculture, tourism, energy, health, transportation, hotel and accommodation, technology and environmental protection, is expected to transform the potential of Eastern Nepal into production and employment. Most of the projects participating in the conference are focused on the agriculture and agro-processing sectors. Deumai coffee farming project (22 crore, KP Sitaula), 19 crore turmeric industry (Barah area, Keshav Ghimire), 45 crore green yard agro farm (Giriraj Basnet) and Kusum Dahal's 80 crore agro project are prime examples.
Churpi Project (18 crores, Netra Prasad Bhandari), Kiwi Farming and Agro Tourism (Vishnu Aggarwal), Avocado Farming (64 crores, Jitendra Bhattarai), Bio Fertilizer Production and Research Center (60 crores, Pradeep Ghimire) and other projects have prioritized investment in high value crops and organic products. Manish Sapkota's `1 billion investment 'Kian Agriculture Research and Development Center' has emphasized local production in scientific research for the promotion of Simal Tarul. Vedetaar multipurpose complex worth 30 crores, Rasatal worth 80 crores, Barjutal project of Sunsari worth 4 billion 28 crores, Rajatal worth 35 crores, Rajarani worth 23 crores and Budhiganga Park worth 17 crores have seen a serious effort towards using the natural resources and beauty of the east. Significant investment commitments have also been seen in solar energy, hydropower, green chemicals and technology sectors. The 95-crore five-star hotel and Birat project to be built in Biratnagar with the investment of Krishi Bikash Bank also highlights the bank-business collaboration. 50 crores Orvan Solid Waste Management (Prashant Jha), 10 crores Waste Management Center (Rajaram Sharma) and 600 crores Big Housing and Construction Pvt Ltd (Ramkumar Kafle) plans indicate a clean and orderly future of the city.
The Koshi investment conference held in Biratnagar has molded the possibilities of production, employment and innovation in Koshi province into a solid plan. Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki said that various projects ranging from millet liquor (40 crores, Janak Rai) to Simal Tarul research reflected the economic diversity of the state. It is hoped that this investment conference will bring the cooperation between the state government, private sector and foreign partners to the mode of integrated development.
"The challenge now is to implement these projects on time, minimize environmental and social impacts and provide direct benefits to local communities," said Saroj Koirala, Chief Executive Officer of the Investment Authority.
