17 buffaloes have died due to lightning that accompanied the storm in Makalu Rural Municipality-3 Kalopatal of Sankhuwasabha. A buffalo raised by local residents Pushpalal Bhandari and Prem Prasad Bhandari died after being struck by lightning on Sunday.
According to Ramkumar Lamichhane, police inspector of the district police office, the incident site is about 35 km away from the Heudangna police station. Since it is remote, a police team has been deployed to the scene on Monday morning. It is said that it will take at least six more hours for the police team to reach the spot.
