Lifting irrigation reaches drought-hit Kuivir Majhitar, 45 Majhi families benefit

Dudhkoshi water has been delivered through lifting to Majhitar, a drought-prone area of ​​Chisankhugadhi Rural Municipality 1 Kuivhir.

In Majhitar, a dry village above Dudhkoshi, the Kuivir Solar Lift Irrigation Project has been constructed through the Watershed Based Climate Uplifting Livelihood Project operated by the Ministry of Forest and Environment with the financial and technical support of various donor agencies. 

The project, which was completed at a cost of 1 crore 25 lakh, was handed over to the municipality and consumers in the presence of Tourism, Forest and Environment Minister of Koshi Province Sadananda Mandal during a program on Tuesday.

Director General of Forest and Land Conservation Department and National Director of the project, Badriraj Dhungana, handed over the project to Village Chairman Nishant Sharma. A tank with a capacity of 100,000 liters has been constructed and brought water from Dudhkoshi river at 810 meters. 

Solar 50 kilos of solar is brought from this lifting project, 45 houses of Majhi Basti will be irrigated on 15 hectares of land. Speaking at the program, the minister expressed his belief that this project will help in reducing the impact of climate change and raising the standard of living of the people.  Dhungana, director general of the

department, said that even though the federal government has completed the project, consumers should be aware of its continuity and sustainability. Village Chairman Nishant Sharma said that it will be managed by the municipality.
