Dhankuta's Mahalakshmi Municipality has banned private school vehicles within the city. The municipality issued a public notice on Monday and stated that this decision was made with the aim of improving the quality of education.

Mayor Dhruvaraj Raya said that the decision was made in coordination with parents and stakeholders to improve the educational quality of community schools and provide accessible and quality education to children. Through the statement signed by Raya, it is mentioned that private schools have also been closed in the city. Similarly, in the academic session 2082, it is stated in the notification that the ban was imposed due to the increase in complaints of the entry of private school vehicles from other municipalities and municipalities.

It is claimed that educational reform programs are being conducted in the community schools of Mahalakshmi municipality. Within the said municipality, only private school is operating in Leguwa. Principal Raya said that all other private schools have been closed.

Even though the private schools within the municipality have been closed, the municipality has said that it has also banned the transfer of students from other municipalities to private schools. Three schools in Mahalakshmi have been closed in two years. It has been asked not to send them to private schools while assuring them that quality education will be provided in public schools. "It's a different thing for someone to teach in a private school outside," said Raya, the city's chief, "but it is completely prohibited to bring private school vehicles inside the city to transport students."  He said that from the date of issue of the

notice, entry of buses of any private school within Mahalakshmi municipality jurisdiction has been banned.
