Slogans were raised against Yogesh Bhattarai, secretary of CPN-UML and member of the House of Representatives, in home district Taplejung. Dissatisfied with MP Bhattarai, who is also the former Tourism Minister, the 'No Kevalkar' group raised slogans against him during the Kanchenjunga Diamond Festival on Friday in the dispute over the construction of Kevalkar in Pathibhara.

Leader Bhattarai along with Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Badri Prasad Pandey reached Lelep in Taplejung by helicopter for the inauguration of Kanchenjunga Diamond Festival.

The festival is being held in Paktanglung rural municipality-6 Lelep. While returning to Kathmandu after participating in the festival, slogans were raised against Bhattarai.

According to Rajendra Shrestha, the former president of Taplejung Federation of Nepalese Journalists, after the inauguration program, Minister Pandey went to the helicopter. MP Yogesh Bhattarai, who was with him, said  He went to the toilet in the building of the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area Management Council. When Bhattarai climbed the stairs and went to the toilet, the locals around him started shouting slogans against him.

At the same time, the number of protesters was increasing. After the protestors surrounded the toilet, the police gave protection to MP Bhattarai by locking the door of the toilet. After some time, Bhattarai came out after the crowd was dispersed by adding more police personnel. He had to be escorted by the police up to the helicopter.

There was a standoff between the police and the locals after an attempt was made to attack Bhattarai. Locals have claimed that they were beaten up. Local Kedarjang Thammaden said they were beaten up. But the police said that there was a problem while dispersing the crowd.

Tapmaden said that they protested against Bhattarai's attack on Limbu Sanskar culture. He says that after Bhattarai came to the venue, the Chabrung dance of the Limbu community was not shown at the venue. 'He is not positive towards the culture of the Limbu community. Chabrung was not even shown,' he said, 'friends entered the stage. But they did not dance after completing the law.'

No cable car group has been protesting and showing black flag to Bhattarai regarding the issue of Pathibhara Mukkumlung cable car since the past. Member of Parliament Bhattarai expressed his displeasure in the House of Representatives regarding the mistreatment of Koshi Pradesh MP Ram Rana.

The coordinator of the organizing committee of the Kanchenjunga Hirak Mahotsav organized by the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area Management Council is Khagendra Fembo Limbu. Fembo Limbu is also the coordinator of the Cable Car Cancellation Joint Struggle Committee.

Fembu himself was present to welcome and bid farewell to the guests including the minister when they got off the helicopter. Eyewitnesses have said that during the reception, Phembu fed the minister but Bhattarai and other guests were not.

Fembu has said that even though the community organized a program to show black flags and protest at the venue in the afternoon, he asked them not to do so.
