The High Court Biratnagar Temporary Bench Okhaldhunga has issued an interim order against the decision of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality to suspend women health volunteers.

On Wednesday, an interim order was issued against the city's decision to suspend Jagmaya Karki, a volunteer of the health post located in Municipality-15 Vijaykhark.

The joint bench of Justices Dhir Bahadur Chand and Bharat Lamsal has issued an interim order. The executive meeting on January 20th decided to suspend Karki and sent a letter to health post Vijaykhark to implement the decision on February 8th.

After the city decided to suspend Karki, Vijaykhark-based Suryodaya Mother Group decided that the mother group had the right to hire and remove volunteers and sent it to the health post in Vijaykhark. But after the municipality did not lift the suspension, on March 20, Karki filed a writ in the Biratnagar Temporary Bench of the High Court, Biratnagar Temporary Bench, Okhaldhunga, seeking an interim order against the municipality, saying that the decision had interfered with the rights of the mother group.

Advocate of the petitioner Omprakash Ghimire said that the high court issued an interim order after the municipal executive decided to interfere with the rights of the mother group. "The National Women's Community Health Volunteers Program Strategy 2067, First Amendment 2076 has given all the rights related to volunteers to the mother group," Ghimire said, "After the executive decided to interfere with that right, the court issued an interim order against it." He said that the decision was taken after submitting the application in the meeting.
