Passengers have been hit by 'auto rickshaws' operating in Khotang charging expensive fares. Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality has fixed the fare of 20 rupees per kilometer in the past, but recently the fare has not been fixed, but the passengers have been hit.

Lungma Rai of Nirmalidanda said that when going from Diktel to Nirmalidanda, they have to pay 2000. Buddhahira Tamang says that two people have to pay 500 when Diktel comes from Walling in Dorpa.

About 60 autos are operating in the municipality. Bichari Rai, President of Elember Hang Auto Service Pvt. Ltd. insisted that the fare has not been increased despite the increase in fuel prices. "We have not increased the fare, but the price of fuel has gone up," he said.

Halesi Auto Transport Pvt. Ltd. Chairman Bhakta Rai said that although the rate has not been fixed in Halesi Tuwachung Municipality, the fare is charged at 100 rupees per kilometer. He said that since there are unpaved roads in Halesi Tuwachung, the service is being provided in agreement between the passenger and the auto.  He said that he used to charge 2500 rupees from Halesi to Diktel. According to him, there are 29 autos associated with Auto Transport Pvt. Ltd. in Halesi Tuwachung.

Local government and administration have become oblivious to charging expensive and arbitrary fares from passengers. Chief District Officer Narahari Ghimire said that regulation will now be made to control this situation.
