The bereavement leave given by Fungling Municipality for Friday 29th of Chaitra has come under controversy. After Yuvraj Dhakal, who was in charge of the executive officer from 20th of Chaitra 2073 to 8th of Asoj 74, died on Wednesday, the municipality decided to give mourning leave on Friday.
Wards have objected to the decision of the municipality. Durga Palungwa, the ward president of ward number 4, has announced that the ward will remain open.
'I would like to inform you that the holiday decision was made without the decision of the executive,' Ward President Palungwa wrote on Facebook, 'The service will not be stopped.'
Amir Maden, the head of the municipality in Kathmandu, said that the leave was given on his instructions. The notice of leave is written and signed by the chief administrative officer, but the name of the signatory is not mentioned. Municipal Administrator Mohan Neupane informed that the city chief Maden, deputy chief Bhima Ojha and chief administrative officer Krishna Gautam are outside the district. It is said that the municipality will stop non-essential services.
