Narendra Prasad Adhikari has been elected as the President of Panchthar Industry and Commerce Association. Adhikari was elected to the post of president for a three-year term, defeating his competitor Rekha Ingnam Lawati by a margin of 510 votes.
966 votes were cast in the election. Out of which 898 votes were approved. Out of which Adhikari received 704 votes, Ing Nam received 198 votes, according to the office of the Election Committee.
Dipesh Gupta, Suryakumar Magar, Shiv Adhikari and Umanath Adhikari have been elected as the four vice presidents of the association, Vikas Thapa as the secretary and Ganesh Kafle as the treasurer. Chandra Prasad Kafle was elected unopposed as the Secretary General. Bhim Bahadur Karki, Yograj Sedai, Nirmal Shrestha, Yam Dhungana, Keshav Paudel, Bhavin Moktan, Tilrupa Pokharel, Deukumar Yonghang, Lilanath Kharel, Madan Kalikote and Narayan Dahal were elected as
members and Chandrakala Thapa was elected as a female member.
He was competing for various positions in the election of the association, including the president. They entered the competition by forming a panel of parties from the ruling coalition and other coalitions.
Congress and UML, which are in the power coalition, formed a panel under the leadership of Narendra Prasad Adhikari. Congress UML and other parties including Maoists and Janata Samajwadi Party put forward Lavati for the post of president.
The counting of votes was completed late on Sunday night.
