Three houses were gutted in a fire that broke out on Saturday evening at Buddhchowk, Pakhribas Municipality-9 Uttarpani, Dhankuta. According to the police, there was a loss worth 11.6 million in the incident.
Local Amar Shrestha's two-storied house and all the contents of the shop have been destroyed.
Inspector Suman Khadka of the district police office said that all the goods, cash 5 lakhs and jewelery in the grocery wholesale shop were completely burnt. Shrestha's under construction two-storied concrete house adjacent to the same house was also said to have been damaged.
Khagendra Ghising's two storied under-construction house was partially damaged due to the fire that started from Amar Shrestha's house.
The fire was brought under control at 11 am with the help of Dhankuta Municipality Fire Brigade, Nepal Army, Armed Police, Nepal Police and local residents. Locals have said that there was cooking gas and petrol in the shop and the fire caused a lot of damage in a moment.
According to Adip, the son of Amar, the owner of the house, while he was eating, smoke was seen from the place where the shop is located and while trying to put it out, all the contents were burnt and destroyed in a moment.
