The police have arrested three people who set fire to public and private forests of Fidim Municipality 4 and 10 of Panchthar and registered a case.
According to District Police Office Panchthar, Sukmaya Tamang of Fidim Municipality-4, Sujita Khajum and Dilu Khajum of Fidim-10 were arrested.
According to the police, one of them, Sukmaya Tamang, had lit a fire in the local Sinhadevi community forest on March 19, which she had lit in her own garden.
Similarly, Sujitha and Dilu also entered the forest area of Khalangatar Mavi after the fire lit while cutting the leaves of their garden on the afternoon of March 19.
The fire in both places was extinguished by the local police. Binalal Sah, Information Officer (Police Inspector) of District Police Office, Panchthar, informed that during the interrogation, they were arrested and a case was registered under the title of criminal nuisance, and a case was registered under the title of criminal nuisance.
Lately, there has been an increase in setting fires in various forests of the district. Pratima Lavati of Kummayak-3 died in a fire in the district on 22nd of Chait and 5 people were injured.
