Among the three airports in the district, the Lamidanda airport in the northern region has not been operational for five years. The airport in Rawabensi rural municipality-3 Lamidanda has been closed since July 2077 during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Chairman of Rawabensi Rural Municipality, Fatik Kumar Shrestha, complained that even when delegations went to the relevant authorities for the operation of the closed airport, they were ignored. "Delegations have been sent repeatedly to the minister for the operation of the airport, but they say there is no ship," he said. Shrestha said that the construction of the airport started at the end of 2025 at the initiative of the then engineer Virendra Keshari Pokharel and it was completed in 2027 and started operating from 2028.
