The journalists of Biratnagar have protested against the death of a video journalist while reporting and the attack on the media. Avenues Television journalist Suresh Rajak was killed when protesters set him on fire while he was shooting a video for news gathering during Friday's royalist protests.

In protest of this incident, a peaceful protest was held in Biratnagar on Saturday morning under the organization of Nepal Journalist Federation Morang branch. The protest rally, which started from the Federation office at Road Shesh, passed through Traffic Chowk, Mahendra Chowk, Shani Mandir, Jaljala Mode and again reached the Traffic Chowk and turned into a corner assembly. Kamal Rimal, central member of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists, while addressing the meeting, strongly condemned the attack on journalists and video houses. He demanded from the state to declare the journalist Rajak a martyr and give him a fair compensation to his family.

Morang President of the Federation of Journalists, Sushila Pathak, said that the culprits involved in the death of journalist Rajak should be severely punished and the victim's family should be properly compensated.

Jhapa, Sunsari and other district journalists' federations have also demonstrated against the death of journalist Rajak.
