Chaunri Tourism Festival is going to be organized on 1st Baisakh in Falelung rural municipality-4 Charrate of Panchthar, which is located in the Nepal-India border area.
The festival has been started here since 2073 for the exhibition and promotion of chaunri found in the Himalayan region, along with its species and sheep products. As a continuation of this, the Chounri Mahotsav to be organized this year is the eighth edition.
Falelung Rural Municipality is the main organizer of the festival, which is going to be held at Falelung 4 (Charrate), which is located at an altitude of 3,500 meters above sea level. The main organizers, organizers and promoters of the
festival held a press conference in Fidim on Saturday and informed that in the eighth edition of the Chounri festival, this time, more than six hundred Chounri and their species will be displayed, along with stall management of ghee, Churpi, cheese and Chounri-related products, activities such as yak riding and horse riding will be conducted.
According to Vice President Zawegu, the festival was organized with the aim of promoting and marketing Chounri products along with protection of the Chounri cow, which is synonymous with the mountains.
Chauri Tourism Festival has been organized every year on New Year's Day as a promotion of Falelung Rural Municipality at the place established as Chauri Pocket Area.
This year, on the occasion of the festival, a three-day time limit has been set from Chait 31 to Baisakh 2, but the main activity will be conducted on the first day of the new year, i.e. Baisakh 1.
The festival to be organized this year is called 'Eighth Phalelung Chounri Tourism Festival-2082'.
Phalelulung rural municipality is the main organizer of the festival and the organizers of the festival are Phalelung Kanchenjunga Parish Tourism Organization, Deepjyoti Youth Club and Kanchenjunga Chaunri Breeding and Conservation Organization. It was informed in the press conference that tourism office Kakadvitta, Nepal Tourism Board and Panchthar branch of Nepal Journalists Federation are playing the role of promoters to complete the
festival. In the
festival, along with various districts of Nepal, the organizers aim to bring in more than two thousand citizens from different countries through India's Punjab, West Bengal, Kolkata, and Bhutan. In the
festival, it is said that programs like honoring the best chaunri palak, friendly football between chaunri palaks, yak dance and hurtuk padkaune will be conducted.
