Bikas Gautam has been elected unopposed as the President of Taplejung Chamber of Commerce and Industry. After four days of efforts, a unanimous working committee was selected. Congress and UML formed an alliance during the nomination on 11th.
After the announced alliance between the two parties, the Maoists and the National Independent Party also formed an undeclared alliance. On Thursday evening, the last day of withdrawing nominations, except for the three unopposed office bearers, all the rest had withdrawn their nominations, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry had written a written request to the election committee to re-elect the vacant posts. The committee again announced the election program and registered nominations. When the nominations were registered, all the officers and members were elected unopposed.
According to the election officer Balram Bhattarai, the first vice president is Shanti Maden, second Sojit Shrestha, third Rupak Ghimire, general secretary Kamal Limbu, secretary Khemraj KC, treasurer Yuvraj Mahtara. The members are Dawa Sherpa, Punya Prasad Acharya, Tej Bahadur Bhattarai, Gayatri Bhandari, Lochan Bhandari, Yuvraj Baral, Hariprasad Ojha, Tejkumar Sunuwar, Dinesh Bhattarai, Santosh Bhattarai, Vikas Hanggam, Ganesh Bik, Lilaprasad Paudel and Harichandra Paudel.
There is a statutory provision that the president can nominate one senior vice president and six members from among the members. Gautam, the president-elect, said that there was a polite agreement to select Dawa Sherpa as senior vice-president. Outgoing President Naran Thapa said that from the first meeting, it was agreed to nominate Bhadraveer Regmi, Revat Shrestha, Bhola Baral, Nandkumar Baniyan and Geeta Bhattarai as members along with Senior Vice President. The general meeting is on Friday. Thapa will hand over the charge on the same day.
