In Singthap Tol of Thukima, Meringden Rural Municipality-5, a house was burnt down by a fire that escaped while cooking fodder. Residents have said that the house of local Santosh Tamang has been damaged by fire.

According to District Police Office Taplejung Information Officer and Police Inspector Vivek Basnet, food, gold ornaments, 70,000 cash and other materials were destroyed in the fire. A two-storied house made of wood and zinc was burnt by the fire.

The police said that the fire started from the oven cooking khole (fodder) for cattle. The stove was near the house . The police has requested to put out the fire immediately after lighting it, and not to light the fire in the place where the wind blows the flames. Deputy Superintendent of Police Ravi Rawal says that he is conveying this message to Toltol from the village post.
