Four people have been arrested in the case of rape of a 13-year-old girl in Mai Municipality-4 of Ilam.The police have arrested four people, including the perpetrator, who tried to settle the case by paying Rs 3 lakh in cash to prevent the victim from going to court.
According to District Police Office Ilam, 24-year-old Keshav Giri, his 58-year-old father Kedarnath Giri, 43-year-old uncle Narayan Giri and 38-year-old neighbor Tuladhar Aryal, who were involved in the rape, were arrested.
They were arrested by the police on Sunday. The victim's father Kedarnath Giri and his neighbor Tuladhar Aryal were arrested from their homes and the perpetrator Keshav Giri and his uncle Narayan Giri were arrested from their hiding place in the border area of Ilam and Jhapa.
District Court Ilam has extended the deadline of 7 days to the four arrested persons and the police said that the district investigation has been started.
24-year-old Keshav Giri of Mai Municipality-2 at the tea garden in Sitli, Mai 2, on March 6, lured a 13-year-old girl from Ward No. 4 and raped her by showing fear and intimidation.
As soon as the information about the incident was received, a police team was dispatched from police station Danabari and the perpetrator escaped.
At that time, it is revealed that the neighbor Aryal gave 3 lakh rupees to the victim. The police recovered the amount from the victim's mother during the investigation.
The mother of the victim filed a complaint at the district police office on March 9, saying that she tried to fix the incident by putting herself under influence and pressure.
