A community school and 9 houses were destroyed on Monday by a fire that broke out from the local Balchikhola community forest. 

According to Halesi Tuwachung Municipality spokesperson Kamal Giri, the fire that broke out in the community forest around 3:30 in the afternoon resulted in complete damage to the two-room building of the local Balkanya Basic School and the houses of local Adam Rai, Sammar Bahadur Rai, Pavindra Kumar Rai, Hiradhan Rai, Krishna Bahadur Rai, Selankumar Rai, Tank Bahadur Rai and the house of Ran Bahadur Rai.

The fire was brought under control at 9:45 pm, Giri said. "Nepali army, armed forces, Janpath, city police, locals etc. have brought the fire of house, school and community forest under control," said Giri.

Giri informed that relief was distributed to the fire victims at the rate of 10,000 rupees per house on Monday night. The details of the damage have not been confirmed.
