At Chandragarhi Airport in Jhapa, the security personnel recovered a large quantity of Bodhichitta from a passenger. While checking the baggage of 52-year-old Sanu Babu Tamang, who was about to fly to Kathmandu on Thursday evening from Chandragarhi, airport security personnel seized 110 bodhichitta garlands and 15 kg of bodhichitta seeds.
Kavrepalanchok became a big house and is now Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward no. District Police Office Jhapa said that these items were found from the bag and suitcase carried by Tamang, a Buddhist resident. Since Tamang could not show any legal documents or bill invoices of the Bodhichitta, it is said that the security personnel took him into custody.
For further investigation and action along with the recovered goods, Tamang Division Forest Office has been sent to Jhapa. As bodhichitta is listed as a protected plant, its illegal transportation and trade is prohibited.
