The Chief Minister of Koshi Province, Hikmat Kumar Karki, has pointed out the need to make a special plan to stop the migration from the hilly areas to the plains.
Chief Minister Karki while addressing the Provincial Planning Commission organized in the provincial capital Biratnagar on Wednesday said that the migration from the hills to the plains has increased tremendously and that effective plans should be made to stop it. He said, 'Migration from the mountains to Madhesh is increasing, there is a need for an effective plan to stop it.'
Chief Minister Karki said that it is necessary to create a proportionate and implementable budget by preventing unbalanced budget distribution. He opined that plans should be carried out with priority to make the life of the people in the hilly areas easier, create jobs and improve the standard of living. He said, 'The financial resources of the province will be strengthened if we make plans so that income can be generated from the projects we have invested in.'
Chief Minister Karki also said that due to the limited resources of the province, it is necessary to increase investment in the tourism sector and create an opportunity to generate income for the province. He added, 'When the local level invests in tourism, we have to jointly invest and share the income, in this way the resources of the province and the local level will increase.' In the case of
state planning bank Chief Minister Karki said in an interaction program with the MPs of the state that while choosing a plan, attention should be given to giving ownership to all and minimizing grievances. He expressed the hope that with the operation of the Yojana Bank, the schemes will proceed methodically and the distortions in the budget will be removed. The
program was attended by members of the state assembly, ministers and secretaries. The Economic Affairs and Planning Minister of the province, Ram Bahadur Rana, also said that there is a need for a provincial planning bank to end the trend of planning for balanced development and planning.
