Elderly citizens are shocked by hand-to-hand allowances

After receiving the social security allowance from the people's representative from the ward office near her home, Limbu in Tulahang was overjoyed.

"Until last year, you had to go to Gopetar market to get your allowance, sometimes you couldn't get a car, you had to stand in line after reaching the bank, you had to suffer from cold while waiting for your turn, sometimes you had to stay there at night," she said. May our blessings be upon him as well.' Upon understanding the

allowance, the face of local Ramprasad Timsina also lit up. After receiving 12,000 rupees in cash for three months of social security allowance from the chairman of the rural municipality, he received the senior citizen identity card and national identity card from the ward staff. Then he went to the health examination room and got tested and came out happy.

"Along with the allowance, I have received documents and pressure, this time it was very easy," he said. There is only one bank in Hilihang Rural Municipality which has 7 wards. Residents of Ward No. 5, 6, 7, 1, and 2 are far away to reach. Senior citizens with disabilities, the sick and the disabled used to find it difficult to go to the bank.

After repeated complaints by the citizens, the rural municipality has started providing services including national identity card, disability identity card, health check-up and drug treatment with allowances by conducting integrated mobile camps in all ward offices from this financial year .

Tulahangma and Ram Prasad who served in the camp conducted in the main office are the only representative characters .

Hilihang Rural Municipality completed the camp from February 1st to 16th. In the camps run by all ward offices, 937 people received social security allowance, 982 people received health check-ups and drug treatment, 383 people received national identity cards, 3 people received disability identity cards, 64 people received senior citizens' identity cards and 7 people received disability aids . Chandra Ghimire, head of the village health branch, said that all the citizens who came to the ward office during the mobile camp had been identified as patients with diabetes, blood pressure and asthma who regularly take medicine.

According to him, the problem of high blood pressure and diabetes has been seen in most citizens above 40 years of age in this rural municipality.

Village Chairman Samar Bahadur Adhikari said that the service was started from the integrated mobile camp after the elderly, disabled, infirm and patients with sugar-pressure problems began to complain that it was difficult for them to reach the municipality center, headquarter Fidim or Gopetar market.

In the first quarter of the current financial year, this rural municipality distributed only social security allowances from the wards. After the needs and demands of the service users are high, the integrated mobile camp has started running from the second quarter. Hillihang is now the official who will continue this program .

The presence of the target group of beneficiaries in the integrated mobile camp organized in all the ward offices of this rural municipality was encouraging. When the camp was conducted at the ward office, the citizens who were not able to go to the rural municipality to receive services felt relieved.

'Distribution of Social Security Allowance at home-tolls especially gave relief to the disabled citizens, when the National Identity Card and Disability Identity Card were also provided from the camp, the citizens of special target groups got benefit,' said Vice President Sumitra Upreti Sedhain .

He said that more than 3,000 citizens benefited from the last camp.
