Two people were injured when a truck hit a government vehicle in Dhankuta Municipality-9 Rudrabari under Dharan-Dhankuta section of Koshi highway on Thursday afternoon.
According to the police, the vehicle No. Ba 1 Jh 6624 of the District Education Development and Coordination Unit, which was going to Biratnagar from Tehrathum, was hit by a truck No. 1-02 002 B 0460, which was going to Dhankuta from the opposite direction. 33-year-old Kalpana Luintel Paudel and his 3-year-old son Hemant Paudel of Dhankuta-10 were injured in the accident. Kalpana's head and Hemant's nose are injured. Both the injured people have been taken to Nobel Hospital in Biratnagar for treatment.
Truck driver Vinod Rai of Sahidbhoomi Rural Municipality of Dhankuta has been detained by Mulghat police station. Police said that both vehicles were damaged.
District Police Spokesperson DSP Omprakash Khanal informed that based on preliminary investigation, the truck driver was drunk.
