In the fire that took place on Tuesday in the Jasbire tea industry of Ilam Municipality-4, there was a loss worth eight crores.

The fire has burnt only four crores worth of organic orthodox preparation tea . Owner Grisham Subba informed that more than 40 million worth of materials and physical structures were burnt. According to him, the fire broke out in the industry around 9 pm. Subba says that the fire was caused by an electrical short.

The organic tea produced and processed in this company was exported to Europe. This time, the owners said that the damage was more than 80 million as the processing machines, furniture and computers along with tea leaves stored in the industry were burnt to ashes. Sharad Shubba, one of the operators, was injured while putting out the fire. He has been taken to Kathmandu for treatment with burns in various parts of his body.

Varuna Yantra reached the scene from Ilam Bazar and Deumai Municipality, about seven kilometers away, to extinguish the fire. Although informed on time, due to the narrowness of the road, it took time for the aircraft to reach the spot.

Local Jayakumar Rai informed that the fire which started at 9 pm was brought under control only at 3:30 am.
