Clash between 'No Cable Car Group' and police in Taplejung, 7 cells fired tear gas

A clash broke out between the 'No Cable Car Group' and the police in Taplejung on Thursday afternoon. 12 people including security personnel were injured in the clash. To control the situation, the security personnel fired 7 cells of tear gas.

A group protesting the construction of a cable car in Pathibhara on Thursday took out a procession from the Great Fedi on its way to the cable car construction site when the Nepal Police and Armed Police tried to stop it.

Chief District Officer Netra Prasad Sharma said that 11 people from Nepal Police and armed forces and 1 protester were injured in the clash.

Mukkumlung Joint Struggle Committee Mukkumlung Cable Car Repeal Sangharsh Committee has been conducting a phased movement saying that the construction of cable car in Pathibhara area will erase its historical identity.
