Nepali students started returning from KIIT in Orissa

Nepali students from Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University in Odisha, India have started returning home in a hurry.

More than 100 students have returned from Biratnagar and Kakadvitta crossings in the east. According to the police office, more than 80 students returned from Jogbani crossing and more than 20 students from Kakadvitta crossing till Wednesday afternoon.

After the death of Butwal student Prakriti Lamsal in the hostel of KIIT University, Nepali students were expelled by the university due to the uncomfortable situation. Rakesh Yadav of Sunsari, who returned from Jogbani Naka, said that after the protest, more than 800 students were taken to the railway station and left.

According to him, a team of 15 including him returned from Jogbani checkpoint on Wednesday. He said, "The university suddenly abandoned them at the railway station, some students did not even have the fare to return home."
