One person has died while cutting a peepal tree in T-State tea plantation in Nakulbanda located in Mechinagar municipality-5 of Jhapa.

At around 10:30 am on Sunday morning, 26-year-old Sitaram Urau and 23-year-old Silas Urau were cutting a branch of a tree when the pole fell on the electric pole. Mangle Sarki, a 58-year-old tea plantation employee, was injured on the head by the wire on the fallen pole. He was immediately rushed to Bhadrapur Provincial Hospital and the doctor confirmed that he died at 11:15 am during treatment.

After the incident, the police arrested both the people involved in cutting the tree. At present, they have been kept at the local police office in Kakdvitta and further investigation is underway, police said.
