Sixth Latokosero and Huchil festival has been celebrated in Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-12 Jalpa. The festival is celebrated every year with the aim of protecting the birds that help the environment.

On the occasion of Huchil and Latokosero festival on 18th and 19th of January 2075, Latokosero and Huchil were declared ward panchis. Dil Bahadur Rai, principal of Jalpa Mavi, said that public awareness has increased after the announcement of ward Panchhi at the Latokosero and Huchil festival held in conjunction with the organization Prakriti Ko Saathi and the ward office Jalpa. "Before 2075 years, nothing was known about Latokosero and Huchil, but after the celebration, everyone has come to know that they should be protected," said Rai. According to him, Nita Vishwakarma of Jalpa Mavi was declared first, Melina Rai of Jyoti Mavi second, Chimal Rai of Jyoti Mavi third and Kanchan Rai of Jalpa Mavi declared consolation. 

Similarly, in painting from nursery to class 3, Pooja Shrestha of Jalpa Mavi got first place, Yogesh Rai of Jyoti Mavi got second place, Siyumi Rai of Jalpa Mavi got third place and Sangeet Vishwakarma of Jalpa Mavi got consolation. In class 4 to 7 painting, Soema Rai of Jalpa Mavi got first place, Savin Shrestha of Jyoti Mavi got second place, Arpan Rai of Jalpa Mavi got third place and Sirjan Rai of Jalpa Mavi got consolation. The senior international painter of the painting, Australian citizen Raymond John Marden, observed and distributed the prizes. Prof. Rai presented a paper on Latokosero and Huchil at the festival. Raju Acharya of Friends of Prakriti organization arranged the prizes for the competition organized on the occasion of the festival. 

Latocosero and Huchil are considered friends of farmers because they make rats their main food. When raising one child, i.e. five Latocosero eats 3000 rats a year. In addition, Latocosero is considered useful for the environment as it feeds insects, grasshoppers and other creatures. There are 254 types of Latocosero in the world. 

A study has shown that out of 23 types of Latocosero found in Nepal, 7 types are found in Jalpa. "There are 254 types of Latocosero in the world, 23 in Nepal and 7 types in our Jalpa," Rai said.
