Uddhav Thapa, former Chief Minister of Koshi Province and Chairman of Nepali Congress Koshi Province, was punched at Jamunbari Chowk in Jhapa on Saturday.
He was attacked while returning from participating in the picnic program of Nepal Press Union. According to Krishna Humagai, the Jhapa secretary of the party, who is also the leader of the Koshi Congress parliamentary party, who was riding with Thapa, a driver of a Nepal Electricity Authority vehicle stopped Thapa's vehicle and attacked him.

After the incident, Thapa was given first aid at Birta City Hospital Birtamode and then he returned home, family sources said. The police said that further investigation is being done on the
incident.
