District Disaster Management Committee has distributed relief to the fire victims of Sabhapokhari rural municipality-6 Bahrbise Bazar of Sankhuwasabha.
The team including the Acting Chief District Officer Mohanamani Ghimire reached the twelve on Thursday and distributed 15,000 in cash to the victims. Similarly, Nepal Red Cross Society has distributed materials such as Tripal, Kammal, Bhadavartana etc. Ghimire said that among the fire victims, 4 families were given 15,000 rupees each and 20,000 rupees were distributed to one family with more than 5 members. Bhim Limbu, Chairman of Sabhapokhari Rural Municipality, said that the Cardamom Business Association and the Distributor Association have given Rs 55,000 and Rs 60,500 to the victim. According to him, the rural municipality has already distributed 2 sets of kitchen utensils and food on Wednesday evening.
The police said that the fire that broke out on Wednesday afternoon caused a loss of more than 20 million. 5 houses were destroyed by fire.
President Limbu said that the jewelry, clothes and food inside the house of the fire victim could not be removed. The fire lasted for about 2 hours. Electricity and communication services have been completely shut down due to the fire. Police Inspector Ramkumar Lamichhane said that the houses of Ram Bahadur Rai, Amrita Rai, Lalsingh Limbu, Sushil Tamang and Nirmala Kalakheti were burnt due to fire. At least 17 people from 5 houses have been displaced by the fire. Fire victims are staying with their relatives and neighbors.
The fire started from Ram Bahadur Rai's house at 2 pm on Wednesday. All 5 mud houses were damaged in the fire. There were no casualties from the fire.
The fire was extinguished in one and a half hours with the efforts of the Nepalese army, police and local residents.
