Halesi Tuwachung Municipality has distributed money as an incentive to farmers who grow peanuts. During the peanut promotion program, money has been distributed as an incentive to the farmers who grow more than five muri of peanuts.
According to Halesi Tuwachung municipality spokesperson Kamal Giri, cash 2500 rupees has been distributed to farmers who grow more than five muri of almonds.
Giri said that farmers who grow more almonds than that are given incentives at the rate of 300 rupees per person. "Incentive money has been distributed at the rate of Rs. 2500 to those who grow more than five muri of almonds and Rs. 300 per muri to those who grow more than that," Giri said.
According to Ravin Bhattarai, Head of Agriculture Branch of Halesi Tuwachung Municipality, incentive money has been distributed to the farmers of Ward No. 2 Dikuwa and 8 Dhitung. According to Bhattarai, 98 farmers of Dhitung have been distributed 394 thousand rupees and 6 farmers of Dikuwa have been distributed 21 thousand rupees. Bhattarai told that the farmers of Dhitung produced 997 muri and the farmers of Dikuwa produced 50 muri of almonds. "Three lakh 94 thousand rupees and 21 thousand rupees were distributed in Dhitung," said Bhattarai.
Spokesperson Giri said that it is yet to be distributed in other wards. According to the policy of the city, incentive money has been distributed to the farmers to increase the production of almonds, said Giri. "Under this, farmers apply for incentive money," Giri said.
Halesi Tuwachung Municipality-1 Bahunidanda, 7 Mahadevasthan, 5 Durchim, 11 Rajapani, Giri said that the incentive money has yet to be distributed. Bhattarai said that it is estimated that around 2000 muri almonds have been produced in the said municipality this year.
