The police have arrested two people with drugs who were trying to enter Nepal from India. Those arrested are 31-year-old Dil Prasad Rai of Miklajung rural municipality-4 of Panchthar and 29-year-old Samrika Nembang of the same rural municipality-5.
A team led by Police Sub-Inspector Kumar Somesh Lamichhane of the Narcotics Control Bureau Kakdvitta arrested them during a check on Old Mechipul road at around 8:30 pm on Wednesday.
Police recovered brown heroin hidden inside a packet of Patanjali Milk Biscuits from their bag while coming to Kakdvitta in a city rickshaw from Panitanki in India. The weight of recovered drugs including plastic is 4 grams and 730 milligrams.
During interrogation, they have admitted that they bought the drug from a water tank in India. Both the arrested persons have been kept in the area police office Kankarvitta for further investigation and action.
It is said that the police have increased special vigilance at the border against drug smuggling and people involved in such activities will be brought under the scope of legal action.
