200 maunds of paddy along with straw were destroyed in a fire that broke out on Thursday morning in Baklamari Ward No. 2 of Kachankawal Rural Municipality of Jhapa.
A sudden fire broke out in the 3 bigha field of local farmer Narayan Singh Rajwansi in two paddy fields around 1:45 am.
After receiving information about the incident, a police team of 7 people from the area police office Baniyani and police station Patharia reached the spot. The fire was completely brought under control at 3:20 am with the help of the police, Bhadrapur municipality fire department and local residents, police said.
It is estimated that the fire caused a loss worth around three lakh rupees. There was no human or animal damage in the incident. The incident site is about 5 km east of Police Station Patharia.
