This year's first snowfall has occurred in Khumbu region. It has been snowing since last night in Khumbu, which has not received snow even after the end of mid-autumn. Along with the continuous drop in temperature, snow has started falling.
Without snow, the mountains of Khumbu region have started to look like black stone, while with light snowfall, the mountains have started to look white, while the villages of Khumbu region have become white with snow. The temperature in Namche has dropped to minus 11 degrees since morning.
Chhimikalden Sherpa, a local tourism businessman, said after the cold became too much. After snowfall in the villages above Namche, the highest peak of the world, the life of the people there is becoming difficult. With the onset of winter, 95 percent of the hotels in the Khumbu region have closed.
Namche businessman Lamakaji Sherpa said that the locals of Khumbu region have closed their hotels and houses and headed towards the capital to escape the winter.
Nares Karki, a tourist who arrived at Tengboche, said that traffic problems started due to the cold in the Khumbu region after the snowfall.
"Due to the snow, the villages of Khumbu have become a sight to behold" Karki told Kantipur, "People's life has become very difficult." On the other hand, the Meteorological Department has said that there is a possibility of light snowfall in the Khumbu region today.
Meteorologist Hariprasad Dahal said that it will snow in the evening and the weather will be clear from tomorrow. The snowfall has not started in the lower areas of the district.
