The foundation stone of a building to be constructed at a cost of three million rupees has been laid in Saraswati Mavi located in Sakela Rural Municipality-5 Mattim.
Village Chairman Ravi Prakash Rai laid the foundation stone of the building which is to be constructed at a cost of Rs. British Gorkha Welfare will complete a 12-room building with facilities within 18 months and hand it over to the school.
President Rai said that he was happy after the British Gorkha Welfare provided a building with facilities for the school, which was facing shortage of classrooms. "The long-term support of British Gorkha Welfare is remarkable," Rai said, "They have also provided a building to a school that is facing a shortage of buildings. We are very happy about it." The agreement mentions that the building will be completed on June 14, 2082.
Principal Sheetal Rai said that the long old school building on the east side of the school and the two-room building before it were demolished. Along with the new school building, the old buildings will be renovated, 6 rooms for the disabled and women-friendly toilets will also be constructed, Rai said. "Apart from the new building, the old buildings will be renovated, disabled and women-friendly toilets, 60-strong deckbenches, garbage disposal facilities, water tanks and streams will also be built," said Rai.
The foundation stone laying ceremony was attended by Village Vice President Birsika Rai, Village Spokesperson and Ward President of Ward No. 5 Jeevan Khatri Neupane, Ward President of Ward No. 1 Heman Rai, former Municipal Vice President Sarita Khadka and other political party heads and representatives.
